My axolotl's eye turned white "over night". Doesn't look to be on the outside, it's more cloudy. She's at least 5 years old, but I suppose it's not just old age?

It sounds like it could be fungus. That often makes the eye look cloudy to start with.

Can post a pic.?

This is our Miss World posing

It's a bit blurry but you can guess left eye quite white from the inside.

We also noticed little white spots on the gills.

I think you should start salt baths.

Thank you for the expertise ;)

We started bathing her on a 10 minutes per day basis 3 days ago.

How many days in row can we do that? When should we start to see improvement?

Is it possible it's an injury, not funghus?

It's poss. it's an injury. bout the salt baths will help it heal. You can do salt baths 2 times a day. I'am not for shure but I think you can do them as long as it takes. What kind of salt are you useing. Is she still eating?

If it is a fungus, salt baths should continue for 2 or 3 days after there are no further signs of fungus. Baths should be 10 minutes, 2 or 3 times a day.

If it's an injury, or from stress, salt baths won't help much.

It's most likely cataracts. Axolotls can get them, and I have seen quite a few that do happen to have them and they look like that. I wouldn't continue to stress it with the salt baths

It definately sounds like a cataract.
I have a 10 year old axie, who's eye turned white overnight a few months ago.
It is still white, but she is otherwise healthy, so I don't think there is any cause for concern.
