What do i do about white spots on my axie, he's getting them on his gills and his tailish area, he's just new to his tank, and the people at the store said it could be because of the temperature change from their tank to mine, and the fact that he is stressed??? White spots is caused by stress?? What do i do about...

Please help, thanks....

white spots are probably fungus. The people at the store were right (for once!) about the temperature change causing stress. When an animal is stressed, they're more suseptible to fungus. read http://www.caudata.org/cc/articles/salt.shtml for some information on salt baths, as this would probably be the most practical treatment approach.

The spots have now turned brown, they sort of look like the spots you get on some axolotls, would they just be there because he's growing? I'm going to do the salt bath anyway. I guess it can't hurt.

take a pic, send 'em to us. but you're right, the salt bath (done correctly) will do no harm

I think it might be its colouration, but just on the safe side....

Nick,

From what i can see in that photo your axie looks fine and the spots you are seeing are just the axies colour developing.

Can you get a closer more detail picture of the area with the spots?

Kim

Leucistic axies will often develop brownish spots on their head and back, even down the tail, as they age. These are normal. They look like freckles. Is this what you're seeing?

Nick, becasue of picture quality can you help out with a bit of written info?

The colouration looks like a golden but is clearly a leucistic. Is she very yellow or is that light effect? Some albinos and leucys do get a pale yellow colouring with time.

At this mooment I would guess it's colouration and not fungus. Salt baths won't harm in any case.

that's definately a leucistic, and a gorgeous one at that

How old is she?

I don't know, i've only had her a week and the pet shop didn't know. It's good to know, i was rather worried.

Much better picture and I think we all agree a lovely axie too.
