has anybody had white worms develope on their own in the tank ??

yes and when it happend I had to clean the tank out to much! and had to trow away the gravel!
so please do your self a facour and destroy the worms as soon as possible (I mean a full clean of the tank!)

They shouldn't be a problem unless your tank is like flooded with them, which tells you that you're overfeeding... I don't mind them since I have feeder guppies in with my newts and if the worms start to become a problem, a hungry guppy will eat it anyway... :p

No, they aren't bad as long as they are in moderation.. I mean like if the sides of your tank is covered with them then you have a water quality problem and are probably overfeeding by quite a bit.. In small numbers they are fine, will take care of some extra wastes( and produce some as well ) and can be a little snack for some fishies in the tank or any snails. I actually like the idea of them there because they will keep my guppies hunting for food all day.
