My Latin teacher said something about "CLOACA" meaning 'sewer' in Latin. How does this relate to a newt's cloaca?

I guess both newts cloaca and sewers hold the same thing!!!!!

The word CLOACA does mean: A sewer or latrine, BUT for purposes of ZOOLOGY, it means common cavity into which the intestinal, genital, and urinary tracts open

Hope this helped
