Why did you give your axie that name?

Nessie after the lock ness monster (im scottish) and Eva because me and my friend were doing chemistry and the name Eva popped up so we just called her that.
My other one was called Luna, after the Harry Potter character

Toothless was - sorry to repeat - from 'How To Train Your Dragon.' She is also known as 'Tooth,' 'Tooth - a - Less,' the Transylvania Missus (who constantly demands 'vurms!') and The Log with Legs. My smaller boy, Galaxy, was called that because at first I wanted to name him after some kind of white chocolate, as he is a very pale creamy gold colour. I tried 'Marble,' 'Milkybar,' 'Dream' and 'Caramac,' but they didn't fit. Eventually I looked at other chocolates. I've always been fond of Galaxy, and when I looked at his tail I realise it was covered in iridophores like a tiny milky way, so I called him Galaxy, or Gally for short :)

Mine is called Fatboy.... because he's fat but its actually a girl! Pluto and Jupiter because.... I don't even know! Just because! :D:D

Believe or not I have 7 axies all at once- we have 5 family members and 2 friends staying with us for the summer so I'm making everyone name an axie. This is taking a while. So far the one above is tamaki suoh after a character in Ouran High School Host Club....

Harry (dirty face=Dirty Harry)
I have 2 wilds and a leucistic still waiting for names!!! ?

Our office mascot is called Axolotl Rosie......it's a play on the Axle Rose rocker's name.....lol....my boss has a sense of humour .
I have two of my own coming soon and have been looking at the names of Mexican Gods for inspiration seeing as Axies originate from Mexican waters. There are some pretty amazing names but most, for a mere English lass, are unpronounceable!!!!!
My sis' has also come up with some fab ones, so will update you all once I've decided.

I haven't decided on a name yet since I'm still not sure of the gender of my axie, but if it's a boy I want to name him Champ after the Lake Champlain monster and if it's a girl she'll be named Chessie after the Chesapeake Bay monster.

I'm really into cryptozoology and had been bouncing lake monster names around and those are the two I like. I originally thought Nessie for the girl, but it's a very popular lake monster and I live very close to the Chesapeake Bay so I wanted to stay local with Chessie :)

I'm still waiting on mine (PayPal decided to be silly and not let my payment go through), but my New Zealand friend preemptively named them Chalchi and Xochi, the former being short for the Aztec goddess of water and the latter being short for the Aztec goddess of rebirth.

The trick now will be deciding which axie gets which name; I'm hoping to get a wild type and a melanoid, and I'm not sure which name should go where.

We have a local Cornish sea monster called Morgawr. I always thought that would be a cool name for a Cornish axolotl :)

My two arrived on Friday...thought they were two gals and called them Sal and Amanda....I know, I know....a sad play on words but I thought it was a bit of fun as they would be just that if they morphed (Heavens forbid).

Turns out Sal is a boy but no biggy. I did some research into names and in Italy Sal is short for Salvadore so Sal he remains!!!!! :D

I have three named and one still unnamed. I have a lucuestic (can't spell) named Gringita (spanish for little white girl though I think she's actually a he) which is named so because of the coloring. A really dark wildtype I call Gordo (spanish for fat boy, though I think he is actually a she) because he/she could never get enough to eat and was always being mean to the other two about food. Recently the smaller of the three kept in my communal tank was named Skittles by my roommates two year old. Why was never explained in English. Phonetically it sounded like a Chinese reason. I don't speak Chinese, just Spanish. So Skittles is Skittles because a Chinese (?) speaking two year old said so.

I'm picking up my first two axolotls on Monday and have decided their names will be Wooper (after the axolotl-looking pokemon) and Kevin Lotl, after Kevin Lyttle, singer of 'Turn me on'
Turn Me On - Kevin Lyttle - YouTube

Musician pun names are a common theme with my goldfish, so far I've had: Mafishyahu, Damian 'Jr. Gold' Marley, Notorious F.I.N and UBFishty. I bought my current two together, so they're named Chaka Demus and Pliers (no pun). My housemate had one named Lauryn Gill.

Slightly off topic, but I hope it gives you some ideas!

I just got mine yesterday, a wild type and a leucistic (or albino... a pink one :p ) named Lenny and Karl until I know their sexes. Lenny and Karl are obviously the duo from the Simpsons lol

I named mine Bubbles as well because she legit plays in the bubbles and tries to eat them. :p

My littlest one is called Pip (because he/she is so small and cute ).
Coral was named after Nemo's mother from Finding Nemo (she's also a golden albino)
Axl is my third axie. Very unoriginal, I know.

Coral and Axl have just become parents so hopefully I'll have quite a few more to name in the near future!

I've been calling him S'Miguel, because Smeagol seemed too obvious and I like stupid puns. However I have recently discovered he's evil, so the name may change to something more...evil-y.

All of our animals are named after a character from a TV show or movie.

Rupert Giles our highly marked leucistic is named after Rupert Giles from Buffy....Giles turned out to be a girl but we kept the name.

Ickus, Oblina, Dizzle, & Krum is named after characters from Ahh Real Monsters which was one of my wife's and I favorite TV show as kids.

All of our hatchlings are named after the L word characters.

I named my one that I kept from the eggs I hatched "Audrey" as she was always eating, constantly "FEED ME! More bloodworms NOW!" :p

So it only fit that the boy I got to keep her company was named Seymour!

i called my axie Luna because she is white, so i looked for a name that means white, or snow and i found one that sounded like Luna, i looked at her and saw that she did really look like the full moon,

Mine isn't named yet, because I had wanted to wait until it was sexed to give it an old-man or old-woman name (a la Seymour or Clementine)... but I am getting impatient so I have started to think of more unisex names. Right now, I like Gazoo (after the alien from the Flintstones), Jones (after Jughead Jones, since my axie is obsessed with food) and Poppins (after Mary Poppins, who is "practically perfect in every way"). We'll see what sticks!
