Why did you give your axie that name?

Mine are Fred and Ginger - (Astaire & Rogers). She is an albino so her 'hair' is kinda gingery. Originally she was called Fred by my son and he was Charecko. Strange name? Stranger story.

Years ago when all the kids at school were talking about Pokemon all the time I told them one day there was going to be another morph of the Lizard family - you know, Charizard, Charmeleon and Charmander. And this little morph would be Charecko, would look like a gecko and win battles by being loving and friendly. I have actually met about a dozen little kids who claim they know all about Charecko.

I was hoping it would spread, become viral, and the writers would do it just because it would be popular! So I am a big kid, too.

I also named all my babies: Ned, Ed, Fred, Ted, Phil, Bill, Will, Lil, Harry, Barry, Larry, Garry, John, Paul, George ... Drives my son nuts.

My axie's name is Sek. I named him after my favorite Dalek in my favorite show Dr. Who. :D (LOL)

Named my golden albino Ghost because once I saw it looking completely pale white and I thought it was dead! Ends up it was just sleeping so I reckoned it came back from the dead... I don't like zombies so I avoided that name D:

GFP Melanoid - Karl (Slingblade)
GFP Wild - Brando (The Wild One)
GFP Leucistic - Alicia Moore (Pink)
GFP Leucistic - Lucille (I don't really know).

I called my axoltol 'Izel' because, my friend who helped me out by trawling babynames websites reliably informs me, it is the Aztec word for 'unique'. I know that they weren't very rare back then, but he's certainly pretty unique to me. Also, it is a unisex name, which came in handy because I got him when he was little and I would've hated to have called him Jane all of his life and have to change it to John when I realised she was a he!

I named my leucistic axie Plankton after Plankton on Spongebob Squarepants. I thought this name was ironic because my Plankton is the exact opposite of the evil Plankton. I also like this name because i call him Planki-poo. :D

My axie's name is Munchkin 'cause of the way he eats! :p I find it very funny when he gulps his food up. :)

Mike - after flan123 who had an axolotl called Ron
Kylie - cos she's petite and sparkly and really lovely
Blade - made in Sheffield
Gilbit - had one gill branch completely bitten off
Phantom - creeps around the tank like a dark shadow
Bandit - has a mask across her eyes
Magoo - looks like he's wearing oversized spectacles
Chip - had a chip out of his tail when we got him
Flair - named by daughter because his/her gill branches flair out
Midas - biggest golden offspring of Mike and Kylie

My lec - axolotl is called Moomin and my wild is called nana x)
I don't know why x)

'Blanco' (meaning 'white' in spanish). Although my sister likes to call him Fizzard.
'Tinto' will be arriving soon (one of esoteric's babies).
Vino Tinto / Vino Blanco, my first love before axololts, wine! (in spanish)

I've got a Speckled Jim who is named after Melchett's pet prize racing pigeon in Blackadder goes Forth (The one that get's shot by Captain Edmund Blackadder, the flanderous pigeon murderer.) She's called this because, well, she has lovely speckles.
The other axolotl lives at school, I have a tutor group Rho, as in the greek letter of the alphabet and the kids named him "Ro" after this.

My leucistic is called Alonzo, just because it's cool. :)

my sister and I got our axies at the same time -
she has Jorge(pronounced whore-hey) and Miguel so i thought I would continue the theme and named mine Juan

Hehe. I often wondered this, I called my first Axol from axolotl and Azura by accident. Lo,l Azura unfortunately died so we got another and called him Saxson, I like the exotic names. We have another now called Dragon, obvious reasons why :)

my melanoid male is called shooter as in the movie secret window (no he does not shoot) and my melanoid female is called Neth Dragon because of a sweedish classmate whose last name is Neth and she and I drew a supper dragon once.:p (silly)

I have Aztec and Maya :)

Due to the obvious links with South American civilizations :)

They don't really have names (YET!) but my biggest wildtype gal has a nickname.
"Plant".
A friend came over and we were looking at the axies in the tank and then I was like: "Lol, I didn't knew I had a weird plant like that".... but then it turned out to be my axie sitting in a strange pose... "Oops, it's my axolotl...."
Friend: "LOL! Name her Plant!"

She doesn't deserve a silly name like that... but for a 'nickname' it's okay.

Quetzal, named after the aztec god of serpents - I was reading about them at the time we got the axolotls. Other one is Juan, less meaningful.

My lil' 'un is called Clifford. I don't actually know it's sex due to being little still, but if it's a girl it can be..Cliffette.
