Why did you give your axie that name?

My axolotl name is going to be Saskia even though I haven't received it yet. Maybe tomorrow will be the big day!

I chose that name from that Australian show Dance Academy. Since I'm a huge ballet fan. :D
Thank you Netflix, lol

my axolotl is called Luna because her face reminds me of the moon! I later discovered she was male but I decided that didn't matter haha

Mine is called Aristotle because it sounds a bit like axolotl and is a cool name.

I named my newest axie Flurry because he/she is snow white and I feel like that name will work with either gender :)

I named my golden albino Axie Zion after Zion in the Matrix, and more specifically the spirit of the Zion archive in the Animatrix. She appears as as golden lady and I found the colors really similar to my lotl. Bit geeky.

I LOVE names and have a handwritten book of them (from years of naming characters in play-by-post role play games and working at a shelter naming dogs and cats).

Nashira - female wild type, she's so cute, dances when you walk over to the tank, just love the name and her
Inari - female wild type and Nashira's sister, I wanted to keep with the Japanese names and it's a type of sushi which amused me a little
Shiori - female leutistic, name is from Inuyasha she's shy like the character, it also keeps up with the Japanese names
Deucalion - male golden albino, I like the name and it has lion in it which makes me think gold

Other pets:
Dogs: Khazi, Vegas & Azel my boyfriend named her it's from some late 90's video game I have been told
Cat: Bubastis from the comics then movie The Watchmen
Soft-Shell Turtle: Kagame, from some TV show and just liked it
African Clawed Frogs: Delta, River & Bayou all named due to water related
Betta: Slaughter because he attacks everything, snails, plants, the glass when you walk up to his tank!
Goldfish: Sushi because it survived over 2 months in a 250 gallon tank with my father's 6 turtles! I saved him while helping my father do a big water change and now he lives the good life with a bunch of snails.

I get my boy on Wednesday and I have named him Darwin as he is 'unevolved' ;)
I am a Catholic so its a bit of a dig at the Darwin theory  but more so I just think he will suit the name :D

Gilligan (suggested by a member here) for my extra gilled lotl
Moody Judy for my leuc who always curls her gills for EVERYTHING
Short stuff has the smallest gills out of all my axies
Smokey my melanoid
Odin my one eyed wild type

My daughter named one of mine Una after the mermaid in the princess Sophia cartoon.

I have Galadriel (named after the Elf Queen from Lord Of The Rings) because he/she is all white with sparkly bits, much like Cate Blanchett.
Then there is Anders, named after Dean O'Gorman's character from The Almighty Johnsons, because he is the smallest of the batch and Anders was the shortest of the Johnson brothers. (Dean O'Gorman also plays the dwarf Fili in The Hobbit, so doubly appropriate!)
Now gone to other homes are Herr Flick (had a german style "SS" marking on his tail), Grayling (very dark grey fins), Hopalong (lost a leg in a feeding accident) and Snowball (albino with no iridophores, very plain and pale).
And nearly forgot - Crocodile (bit at least three legs off his siblings and possibly consumed one whole other.)

"Spooky" Mulder. Named, of course, after the fantastic character Fox Mulder from The X-Files. He's a strange little wild type and tends to spend his time staring at me for hours on end from across the room. I may have named him properly because I indeed suspect him to be some sort of agent or spy.. or perhaps he's just a very, very nosy little guy.

I was actually thrilled that you ended up naming him that, no one ever likes my name suggestions!

I have one wild type name " fluffy". Mainly because my husband is allergic to cats and I wanted a cat lol but he got us an axolotl that we both LOVE ans well ....

Mine are called Sally and Hadfield, after astronauts (Sally Ride, first American female astronaut, and Chris Hadfield, the first Canadian commander of the International Space Station, and recent youtube phenomenon with his rendition of 'Ground Control to Major Tom' from space).

I had a friend in grad school with a blue tongued skink named Copernicus, because, in his words 'lizards should just be named after astronomers'. I thought that was funny, so I named my next lizard Tycho after Tycho Brahe.

I generalized the rule to amphibians, and decided that they should be named after explorers. After I ran out of explorers I knew of and liked, and started using Astronauts, because they are like modern explorers.

As an aside, I had a tree frog named Garneau after Marc Garneau, Canada's first astronaut. He was chancellor of my university when I graduated, so I got to meet him. I told him about my pet frog and he was really honoured - he even blushed, it was cute.

I had to name my juveniles before I sold them - it was getting awkward saying 'the wildtype - no, the OTHER wildtpe' when trying to differentiate.

I had one tank with Tweedle-Dum and Tweedle-Dee, Hatter, Dormouse, Cat and Rabbit, and one tank with Athos, Porthos, Artemis and D'Artagnan, along with Mulder and Scully.

I have 85 larvae right now, I'm not naming them....unless it's One, Two, Three...all the way to Eighty-Five....

My newest addition, a wildtype axie, is Dr. Piglet. :D I thought Lancelotl was a name I had seen a couple times but I wanted something a little more unusual and that name made me think of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, in which one of the minor characters is Dr. Piglet. And since axies are such piggies I thought it'd be perfect. So now I have Pepito, Artemis, and Dr. Piglet. Such fun are the little lotls.

I love Cat and Rabbit. :)

I couldn't decide on a name for my first one when I got them last Summer. I called it "Small Friend" while trying to come up with a name and it ended up sticking with time.

Since I couldn't even come up with a first name, it was even harder to come up with a second name when I brought home my second axolotl last weekend. It's name is "The Second One".

As you can see, I'm really decisive.
This is kind of my favorite.

My guys are all Game of Thrones themed!

Cersei - Golden Albino
Daenerys - Wild Type
Ned - Leucistic (was Arya when young, changed to Ned when we saw he's a boy!)
Jon Snow - Melanoid

:D

Of my Hathclings:
Cersei's two albinos are The Joffrey's
Daenery's two wild type hatchlings are Big Brother & Little Finger
And about 70 hatchlings unnamed so far!

My gold albino gfp is named Thor. Because as soon as he was put in his tanks he raised his hand and a tiny hammer flew to it and he shot a bolt of lightning out of it and then smashed the lid off and flew over to me and thanked me for feeding him bloodworms then he went back in his tank and I closed the lid :D
