Question: Why do axolotls "jump" when eating?

I don't know what to call it I know they're not jumping, what I'm referring to is when they suck in water to eat sometimes they fly up into the water as part of the movement. What's the physics behind this?
 
Mine sometimes does this, very strange but quite interesting :)
 
I think it has to do with the rush of water. They eat like a sudden ON vacuum cleaner XD
 
That's a really good question! Looking forward to hearing some of the answers. I know mine will kind of "snap" towards the food and it looks like he jumps. But I have seen him do a little jump too.

Strange little things. :)

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
