Hello everyone. My name is Mandy and I am currently living in Pensacola Florida. I am studying Zoo Science at Pensacola Junior College and the University of West Florida. It is a really fun program. I just got my first caudate, a tiger salamander. I adore him; or at least I do believe he is a him. I am trying to find out which types of animals I would like to focus my studies on and caudates are currently my main choice. I am excited to be a part of this website and hope to learn a lot and be a productive contributor. I really want an axolotl and would love to buy one from someone in the US, since it would probably be unethical to ship one overseas. I work at PetSmart, which is less than exciting, but if anyone needs any help with hamster care, cat food choices, etc, let me know. :p

If you haven't found it already, there is a for sale section (yup, it's illegal to ship axolotls internationally).

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
