Hi there!

I have zero amphibians at the moment and so I'm basically here to spy on everybody and absorb as much information as I can before I start my axolotl set-up, hopefully in the new year.

What finally prompted me to actually start planning for a tiny newt friend is that I saw some axolotls in a pet shop recently in a completely bare tank  I've never kept amphibians before, but it was clear to me that no creature would want to live in those conditions.

I looked into their care when I got home so I could call the store and give them a piece of my mind.

On the way I discovered that they're easier to care for than I anticipated, and that I definitely need 4234324 of them in my life.

Although one or two will do for now :)

So, here I am to fill my head with knowledge.

And hopefully get a great deal on a tank. Second hand will do.

Hello and welcome to Caudata! I'm positive you'll find everything you could possibly want to know and more about axolotls and everything that comes along with caring for them, they are amazing pets. I wish you the best of luck and welcome you to this exciting new hobbey. :D

Thanks! :D

And form the looks of things I'm sure you're right.

Me and my sister keep snakes, so I'm not 100% unfamiliar with keeping a habitat...habitable, but I know enough to know I don't know enough to just jump right into a new pet.

The Reptile Forums helped me out a lot when I got started, so I'm sure I'll get the same here.
