My baby golden albino axolotl's tail looks wavy and has divots in it. The skin looks like it is folding over. This happened about a week ago. Im not sure if this is worrisome or what could had caused this. I have included some pictures, any input would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

Some more info will be helpful to guide us in the right direction :)

How old is your axolotl?
Is this different from how it usually looks?
Any injuries? Did the tail get caught on something or did something drop on it?
Water parameters?

My axolotl is just under 3 months old, and the tail was not always like this. The skin appears to be disappearing and folding over. My axolotl is currently living alone in a quarantine bin where I do 100% water changes daily. He is in this bin because white fungus begun to grow in his 10 gallon tank, and the tank is still cycling. He recently had a leg injury, but it healed up nicely and I do not believe the tail problems are a result of injury. The tail has gotten worse over time. Also, here is a thread I found better explaining the problem im having. Unfortunately, this thread does not include a solution.

Thank you for your reply :)

I wanted to say that this tail problem ended up being the due to single celled parasites and bacteria. My axolotls gill filaments also fell off soon after seeing this change in the tail. I took my axie to the vet and was prescribed metronidazole. My axie is now very weak but likely to recover with the medication. If you are reading this thread because your axolotl is having this problem, I recommend going to a vet as soon as possible because if it is parasites, you want to treat it before it causes the gill filaments to fall off.

It cost about 200$ including the visit, tests, and medication. However, I went during after hours on an emergency call so I was charged more. I just felt it was an emergency when I saw the gill filaments gone.
