Wild caught?

Hello

I've finally found someone in The Netherlands that sells Tylotryton verrucosus, but I wonder could they be wild caught, because I thought that was illegal for this species?
I also want to know, how I can make sure they'll survive the first few days. Because I think they will be weakended. So is it best to keep them fully aquatic, or terrestrial? What should I feed them, temperature, etc.? Please help me.

Greetings Mark

Unfortunately, it´s not illegal
Needs little more than just reading something in the internet. There are WC animals in pet trade, the more common "form", is much too regularly available,......
I think the best way to keep them is a maily aquatic setup, but including a real terrestrial part, which has to have dry hiding-Space,.....
You don´t know much about them, though it´s not difficult to get informations,......
Little sad for someone, who wants to keep animals,.....
Greets,

Hey Philipp
I'm sorry for you because you're such a morron. You see, I have read everything I could find about them at the internet, but I thought it would be best if I also asked the opinions of people that have bred them. And you say I want to keep animals, like in the future, you're sadly mistaken because at the moment I'm breeding with A. Maculatum, C. Orientalis, C. Phyrogaster and a few species of dendrobatidae. So I would appreciate it much if you kept your mouth shut the next time. You see there are people that first want to collect as much information about a species as they can get before they're goning to buy them.

Thanks Mark
Well, surely you can´t know that here in Germany, most of the people, writing their questions in the way you did (wrong spelling of the latin name, just talking about internet pages, asking for basic parameters,....Just take a look at how you wrote e.g. Cnops pyrrhogaster and the rest of what you mentioned,...), are of the kind, i described. I´m sorry for you, trying to be a kind of exception. Maybe it´s because there seems to be a new generation of newtlovers, picking up most of the informations they need before starting with new animals, of the internet, without buying basic books and without hunting for copies of articles and stuff,......
Still prefer the "Oldfashioned way"
Got it now?
Philipp Grundtner a morron?
Tell him what this means!;-)
Hehe

Philipp,

Why don't you cut people some slack? I have been watching your posts and just shaking my head. There are much more tactfull ways to express your opinion! Unless of course you are the new dictator of salamander ethics and husbandry...?

Sometimes I agree with you and see your point, but we don't all have to do things your way. I'm not sure if you are really this rude or if it is the difference in English and German. Whats the deal?

I hope I spelled everything correctly, but if I didn't I'm sure you'll let me know!

GREETS!~,

Erik

Hi Erik
Sure, there are much more elegant ways of expressing views. But that´s not my style.
But that´s not all.Of course, i would be much easier for you to get it right when talking german,......Being a dictator, would be nice to me;-)Especially at times, when everything´s difficult around,.....
But you can call me whatever you want, can think of me being a small rebel, starting to get a beard or stuff, maybe even a "dictator of salamander ethics and husbandry", i will always smile, cause to me it´s more important to make conditions for animals better,...
And just a sentence to think about: Many people in here, are fighting for one and the same way of husbandry, less seem to be interested to relative about what they´re talking.Where´s the dictatorship?(Notice:No rude attack, but a joke;-))
Like your way of reacting. Some did worse;-)

Hi Mark
Are your breeding A.maculatum in indoors setups? I had no records of successful breeding of a.maculatum and I have ask quite a lot.
If you have done so, I am sure some people will really appreciate a report on your breeding successful method (some pics of the setups and so on will be much appreciated).
Best wishes

To come back to trhe basic question : I keep T. verucosus in a fully aquatic setup with banks of java moss. The water heightis about 10 cm , sometimes 15. Watertemperature ranges from 22 to 27°C. They like it somewhat warm. I feed with earthworms and musketoo larvae. They are very active and agile in this setup and from my couple I get eggs almost every month (but I do not raise most of them). I am currently trying to raise some more to setup a large group.

My adults are captive born larvae I got from J. Raffaelli. they are now about 5 years of age and just beautifull.

Greetings,

hope this helps to swallow the german flavor ( just a joke ,.. offcourse)

Hi Henk!
how does your Tylototritons look?could you post a pic of them?
are they the "light" and large type or the "dark" and smaller type (like John's ones)?
what's their size?

thanks

Seems to me that it's spelled "Cynops." Before insulting other people's spelling, I must insist upon learning it yourself. Cheers,
