Okay guys! Something weird happened to my one year old axanthic. After I changed his tank, his gills drastically shrunk! He looks bald now. Take a look. Anyone have any ideas what happened to him!?

The gills expand and contract, in response to the level of oxygen in the water. More oxygen means less need for expanded gills. Contracted gills are a good thing.
This would suggest that the water removed from the tank was of poor quality, compared to what you put in.
Always treat new water with Prime or a similar product.
