Worry about my Aks - gills and dark points

More water will be fine. You can't make the water too deep in a home aquarium.

Have you tried using regular earthworms? If she eats bloodworms, offer them. She's a growing 'lotl, and right now you want to get food into her so she can put on weight.

i can't find any now, but on weekend i will buy eggs of earthworms and will grow some by myself(and mom, the is a good farmer)
and also i want to try Artemia (buy the live or try to grow by myself)

She certainly does seem to be improving, hopefully soon her gills wont be so bare!

And also, when it comes to tanks, bigger is always better :)

guys, i have found no topic with axolotl's behavior discussion.

could you please describe, what you consider as normal behavior of your axolotl ?

i ask because i watch my female axolotl for 4 months, and only latest 3 days she almost can't stop swimming along the tank. swimming is not nervous, sometimes rather slow, sometimes a bit faster. she is still curious and responds my oncoming with swimming alongside the tank, climbing everywhere and anyhow

earlier her normal behavior was sitting on the bottom and watching the wall...

eating well (i found eathrworms and started feeding right 3 days ago), water is the same preparation and same changes schedule, temperature is 20. i see no signs of stress (especially when she swims slowly), but this kind of behavior seems to be abnormal for my girl..

Have you checked the water parameters? Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph?

Mine seems to get bursts of energy and some days he never sits still. Today he's been swimming around and climbing through the plants non-stop. Perhaps she got lots of energy from those juicy earthworms :D

Actually after a couple of weeks of munching on earth worms one of my axies got an amazing amount of energy. Lucky for him he has been fortunate enough to move into a five foot tank, he'll be in heaven ?

water parameters are still safe,
all NxOx and NxHx values are minimal.
pH is about 8
gH is 12

My adult wild type is acting this way today as well! (Not the norm for him either.) I've seen him do this a couple times, and I've worried and assumed he was stressed....but his water is fine. He always goes back to his normal self, so I try not to worry!

that was the question. do they swim in stress. on do they sit during the stress on the bottom only ?
