Hello, due to some life circumstances I need to take down my alpine newt aquarium for about a year, would it be safe to keep them in like a wine cooler for about a year. I would think they would do okay in some moist sphagnum moss yeah? Im just wondering if they have any trouble eating on land. Any help is appreciated.

Mine have always been very aquatic & have never eaten out of the water.

I wouldn't. Mine have always been fully aquatic even though they always have the opportunity to access logs. In about 6-7 years, I've only seen one haul out onto a log for a few minutes one or two times.
