would this be worth it?

I just found an ad in my local ad paper and it says: glass aquarium, 24" wide, 1 1/2' high, 12" deep, with filter, stones and other accessories, $14. Do you think this would be worth it? I think the price is cheap. How many gallons do you think that would be by the dimensions of it? Also, is that big enough for a small paddletail newt?

The only problem with this tank is that it is really far too tall for newts. Longer, shallower tanks are much better and don't have the wasted tall space. Tanks this tall are also more difficult to work in due to the tall sides. It is rather cheap though and the bottom space is a great improvement over your current tank.

This tank would be a 20 gallon high. The issue there is that you probably won't need any of the accessories it comes with. But the price isn't bad, and it REALLY beats what you've got it in now.

It's an excellent deal. The extra height isn't a serious problem, just don't fill it all the way. The filter it comes with might not work for newts (it might not work in a not-full tank), so you might have to buy a different filter. And don't forget that you have to seal every crack to prevent escape.
