Yawning, Normal??

Do Fuzhong Newt's normaly yawn, I not seen mine do this before but he did today.

I finding hard to keep the temp down, it at 24*c at the moment, I realy would like it at 22*c, I tryed not having the light on for long and have considered a cooler, but being there almost £500 it not realy something I want to invest in, considering it is twice what I get a month.

I do hope he is ok, and I just worrying over nothing.

May I suggest a cheap alternative to a cooler? Try reusable ice packs. I bought 6 Rubbermaid "Blue Ice" Weekender ice packs at a Wal-mart (not sure where you could get them in the UK) for $12. Changing them out once or twice a day will keep the temperatures down at a desirable level. If they don't sell "Blue Ice" in the UK, I'm sure you can find an equivalent. Just make sure it's non-toxic.

By the way, yawning is quite normal and is usually nothing to worry about.

I usually find that newts yawn when they are in comfortable surroundings. Fuzhongensis can tolerate subtropical temperatures, so as long as it doesn't rise above 24 I wouldn't worry too much. The probelm with ice packs is temp fluctuation. When you put the ice packs in, the temperature falls, but wehn they have astarted to melt, the temp rises again, then falls sharply again when the new pack is put in. This can be more stressful than a consistent temp at the top of their tolerancy range.
