Nice to meet everyone!

As the Title states I’m from Iowa in the US. I am new to all this. I teach science and want to get a newt for a class pet. I want to make sure I have the knowledge and materials to allow for a newt or two to have a great life while in my care. If I really enjoy it all, I might even get deeper into the hobby as well!

Welcome to the hobby.
The main problem with a class pet is : who will take care of it on hollidays ?

Apart from that, there are a lot of different newt species with different care.
Chose the species first, then second the knowledge (Caudata culture for example, and threads on the forum), and third the materiels.

Spanish ribbed newts are tough survivors and not the greatest escape artist. They can be trained to eat pellets.
