Why did you give your axie that name?

Everyone has picked such meaningful names :)

Mine are Spongebob (Spongey) and Squidward (Squidy) because my boyfriend loves the program, also when I first bought them I also ordered the fish tank Spongebob and Squidward houses to use as their hides! The only problem with the names is turns out Squidward is a girl and I feel bad renaming them so Squidward or Squidy is now also a girls name :)
 
We named our gold Cpt Jack because my daughters and I are suckers for pirate movies and we just happened to have a sunken pirate ship in the cycled aquarium when we got him. Oddly enough, he likes to hang out on top of it when he thinks his "deep thoughts".
 
I named my wildtype Kahlua because I wanted some link to Mexico and the aztecs and it fit perfectly because she is dark and smooth like coffee and also has quite a bite like the alcohol hehe.

I also have a golden albino named Luna. He is a very pale golden and he reminded me of the pale yellow moon and all things lunar and ghostly so it was perfect.

I will also be picking a few babies to keep out of my bunch. So excited to name them. :D
 
Zalth - "Salt" with a twist, from Angelina Jolie's role as the russian spy Salt. She's sooo good looking. :D
Grus - I was running to the bus from the pet shop with the axolotl in a bag, not knowing what I was supposed to name her. Then I noticed the sound of gravel underneath my shoes, and I shouted "GRAVEL, HER NAME IS GRAVEL" to my friend, but in swedish of course .. "Grus, hon heter Grus!!" lolol :p I hope that run wasn't too bumpy for my lil' girl haha!
 
I have an almost 2 month old guy I've been raising since he was an egg, and have been STRUGGLING with the name to no end!

I think I finally settled on Motley, because he/she is all splotchy (wild-type), but my fiance says I should name him/her Taco. I didn't wanna name him Taco, just on principle, but it's kinda cute... What should I ddoooo?! :confused:
 
Tacos pretty cute, but my method when im stuck is always just to look at whatever im trying to name and say the first thing that comes to mind. so when you look at your little fellow try both names and see which one fits, and if hes anything like mine hell tell you what he thinks too. when i was between names with pix i tried it and he flapped his gills when i said pixie so it stuck. good luck!
 
Kahlua is one of my most favourite beverages and I've only just learnt from this thread that it comes from Mexico :lol: And I call myself a fan?!

I'm not entirely sure why I chose the name Clifford. The more I ponder, the more I think it's because I'm a big fan of the Young Ones and love Rik's obsession with Cliff Richard :)

Well my axolotl is named Officer Puckles.
We named him because none of us could really think of a name at the time.
We were debating on Officer Axolotl, because when i first got him we were all just in love with the word Axolotl (who isnt?!) I knew for sure i wanted his name to be Officer something, because he had to have some sort of officiality.
Many names were tossed around, such as Lil' Gus, but I decided on Puckles because when he comes up for a gasp of air his mouth makes a "puck" noise. Like a pop.
Thus, Officer Puckles was born!
 
i think it suits him though. its like my friend has a little brother who is adorable and fun loving and his name is bob. not bobby, bob! its like a nice serous name for someone who inst very serous.

Been pondering on a name for my little one too now I've decided it is being kept but I wanted a unisex name as it is only just over a month now (need to check my diary lol) Been scouring all kinds of websites to do with water deities, found some lovely names but most were for goddesses then last night I decided on Xochi :) original I know lol but I think it suits the little monster :D Going to keep a golden too but they are too small to tell which one I want yet but I have decided on either Milco or Topo for that little one ^^
 
My lotl's name is Swarley. It's from an episode of How I Met Your Mother. I'm getting two more probably next week, a leucistic and a melanoid. I'm naming the former Momo, like Avatar, and the latter Toothless, from How to Train Your Dragon. :D
 
Ugh, I want a melanoid named Toothless so bad!! I friggin love that movie... I'm such a nerd. :p
 
I love it too! I'm such a dork, but I love kids movies. I was trying to come up with a name for the melanoid I was planning to get when I watched it, and I knew instantly that I was naming one Toothless. I can't wait to get them! I'm planning my two tanks now. I just "potted" my fake plants lol and bought hides for the two babies. I'm spraying epoxy paint on a tealight turned hide. It's coming along!
 
I'm so bad at naming animals!
Of my original 3 axies (who are now adults), I have Canaq, which is a blend of the words Canis (dog) + Aqua (water), since they are Mexican Water Dogs. She is a female wild-type.
Today, I have called another Deltaqua (or Delta for short) - A blend of Delta (the Greek letter D - for dog again) and Aqua. She's a female golden.
The male golden is still un-named as yet.

I've also recently got 2 leucistic juveniles, which aren't named yet.

I have 6 corn snakes, of which only my 1st is named - Amya (regional dialect from his birthplace).
I have an un-named white GAL snail.
My dog is called Caraid, which is Gaelic for "Friend" or "Kinsman", since he is Scottish.
My daughter called her albino Syrian hamster Simba, after the character in The Lion King (which I have recently found out actually means "Lion" in 1 of the African languages, although I have since forgotten which language!)

I have been caring for my friend's 3 adult axies too - 1 of which I called Oz when she 1st got them, as it went through a phase of being upside down (+ in the UK we call Aus "Down Under"). The other 2 I have named today, as Alpha + Beta.
 
Alright, finally decided on Commodore Motley for my 2" baby wildtype. It can be Mo for short. Unisex, too, so when I find out what I have I won't have to change the name! Plus I have a cat named Lieutenant Scratchy, so I figured the military titles needed to be expanded upon, and since axolotls are aquatic, he needed a good naval title. :p
 
I don't even own an axie yet but I have his/her named picked out. Professor Soapy Gumsalot.

Professor after a rabbit I knew named Professor Bun Bun (he spent many days in our class, just hanging out. I thought having a pet named professor would be awesome), Soapy I got from Morrison on here (thanks for the idea!) and I find it just fits a leucistic axolotl and Gumsalot is kind of self explanatory.

I wanted a long, elaborate and humorous name.

Just happened to stumble across this thread when looking up what others have named their axolotls. I've kept axolotls over the years, and as axolotls do not care in the slightest what their names are, and non-pet names for pets amuse me, I've named one Bob, the other Muhammad, and my lesser siren Steve.

My siren died a short time ago, and I just purchased an albino axolotl which is occupying the same tank now. His name is Frank.

RIP Steve.

i call Pixie princess alot and Matti is the little prince but its mainly what i call them when im just talking to them, i guess there "pet" names...:> hehehe
