hi folks,

just signed up here a couple of days ago.
my sons just bought a chinese fire bellied newt last week. we are crazy about this little thing and just yesterday, bought one more to keep him/her company. i know they are not sociable etc., but we thought one certainly wouldn't do any harm.

we live near glasgow on the west coast of scotland - that usually wet, cold and windy place! this is the first time we've had newts. years ago i kept a couple of terrapins which grew to an enormous size. i know these little things wont, so i'm happy about that.

Welcome to the forum! Your sons' newts will enjoy the climate up there ;).

Hi, I'm from Glasgow too!

*waves at louise*

hadn't been back here for a while - hadn't needed to. i anticipated problems, but so far, so good (crosses fingers!) thanks for the welcome too mark.

we are really enjoying our wee newts. was a little concerned initially, against advice read around the net, the second newt was not a healthy one. very skinny and sitting out of the tank on top of a perspex screen seperating the newts from frogs. i think one or two of the frogs took a liking to his (i think he's a he) toes :(

didn't eat for about 5 days, but now both are happily taking live earth worms. spent a fortune on commercialised food, which they both turn their noses up at!

anyways, i talk too much. guess i should move this chit-chat elsewhere :talker:
