A month ago was my first time fridging an axolotl, so I was very inexperienced, but followed the stickied guide.

After a month, I began to realize my axie was getting sort of thin, so I took him out about a week ago.

The issue is, now, he doesn't really eat that much. He used to eat a whole worm or half a thawed shrimp, but nowadays he may eat one-eighth of a worm or one-eighth of a shrimp! Also, he's really sluggish and flicks his gills very weirdly (he used to do it every thirty seconds or so, now he flicks them 7-8 times within ten seconds, then stops for about a minute, then does it again.

I've recently tested the tank parameters, and I don't see anything abnormal, so I'm thinking that perhaps it's just his metabolism recovering after not eating for a month? But I don't know. Anyone?

Some newts and salamanders will spasm in odd ways due to lack of nutrition, but I don't know much about axolotls specifically so I could be wrong.

First of all, why did you fridge you axie? Secondly, Fridging causes axies to not want food. For the best, leave some of his/her worms in the tank(if your axie has no companions) and wait a few hours to see it it will eat it. My axie ate for the first time at 11:24 after not eating for 8 days. Some salamanders for get how to eat after not eating for a while. What I suggest is the things above, talking to a knowledgeable person about axies( unless it's a chain pet store like petco or Petsmart), or ty force feeding which is last resort. Force feeding causes stresx to your axielotl. Hope this helps. Also, what are your exact parameters?
