Hey, Do you have to have an airstone in your newt tank? Do the newts need it? It wouldn't harm them at all would it?

I have air stones in all my aquatic tanks. The newts don't require them but it will help keep the water "sweet". The bubbles move the surface of the water which increases the oxygen content and prevents greasy/dusty films settling on the surface.

It won’t harm them. Vigorous bubbles may create too much movement and stress some newts. This can easily be solved by adding an inexpensive valve to regulate the air flow. http://www.fishandfins.co.uk/images/9709.jpg

Ok thanks. I just wasnt sure. Im going to put my newt into his new tank, and he will hopefully like it.

You may see your animals playing in it. Mine will lay on it, or ride the bubbles to the surface and then swim back down and do it again.
