Hey folks, newbie here, so be gentle with me.
Still on the hunt for a new axie, as my beloved pal died--due to my own ignorance of the need to keep him cool, not warm.
But meanwhile, I've discovered a very axolotl-like salamander native to this area (Pacific Northwest).
I believe it's called the Pacific Giant Salamander, and it's the spit and image of an axie--only it seems to get much larger.
It, too seems to be an endangered species, and, though I've heard it's abundant in all the fresh waterways here, I'm thinking it's perhaps not kosher or even legal to keep one in a tank.
Only reason I'm mentioning this is that I've been trying for two years now to get another axie, but without luck, and I was just thinking ANY large salamander would be better than nothing.
Meanwhile, thanx, for your attention,
M
