Axolotl stomach bigger than head

My sons axolotl suddenly got a big belly a few weeks ago. He does not float.
What could this be and is it serious?

Uh that looks very bad :/

First thing first remove the gravel! that it just accident to happen , cant say exactly but id assume it has probably ingested some already.

Some other factors might be in play but yeah not much to go on with.

Hello! I second removing the gravel. Once ingested, gravel can cause blockages. In my opinion, it looks pretty bad. Seeing as he's not floating, it's probably not just air. I'm still new to axolotls myself, though, so I'll wait for someone more experienced to tell you how to treat it.

it looks a lot like whats going on in this thread, i would take him/her to the vet to be sure, it doesnt look very healthy.
