Sorry if this is a newbie question but I am a newbie to axalotl keeping.
My baby axie sheamus is about 9 weeks old, growing and eating well but for the last few days he's had something sticking out of his underside. I thought he was going to the toilet (maybe he is) but it seems it's always there.
He lives in bottled water with no chemicals or chlorine and eats brine shrimp but is only interested in fully grown ones, completely blanks bbs. He has between 3-4 brine shrimp p/d which I figured was ok given the size of his stomach to the size of the shrimp but he would eat more given half a chance he loves his grub. He's about 1.5-2 inches roughly.

Anybody know if his dangly bit is normal or something to worry about?

I cant quite see the pic and no expert but does ur baby yet have his/her legs? Could it be a leg growth?

Thanks for the quick reply :)
He's just starting to get his front legs so I guess it could be but it's only on one side.

Yeah but everything doesnt grow at exact same time does it. Is it in the correct place for a leg? X

It looks like it would be where the back legs would grow but it looks like it originates from underneath him/her. He's so tiny though it's hard to tell anything lol

Not sure either. Can you take a pic from the side? It looks like poo.

Yes, it does look like poop... Have you observed him for a while? Have you actually seen him poop?

I'll try and get him from the side tomorrow when the light's better. Sorry for the unhelpful pic but that's actually clearer than we get to see him in r/l lol.
I haven't seen him poop but have seen his stomach full of it and then the remains so he can definitely go. Maybe he's just eating and pooping constantly, I just wanted to be sure it wasn't something to worry about :/

Looks like poop to me. They usually go continuously if you're feeding them brine shrimp. They've got a continuous supply of food, so they've constantly got to make room!

That's a big relief thank you :). Like I said, sorry for the newbie questions I just don't know yet what's normal and what to worry about.
Thanks again to all who replied.

Think it was just poop as it's gone now. Guess I just have a greedy poop machine lol. Thanks all :)

All axolotls are greedy poop machines :D

Mine enjoy pooping. When I've cleaned out their tanks they start too poop like they haven't done that in years. MADNESS!
"Ha, you're gonna clean this. Ha. Now feed me so that I can collect poop for the next time you clean out my home..."

Haha, that sounds familiar :p

Nothing is more frustrating to thoroughly clean all the water dishes, just to come back 10 minutes later to find a big ol' turd in half of them. Snakes are the worst at that!
