While the forum was offline, a lot of people said how much they'd miss all the useful information from older threads.

Would anyone like to nominate their favourite/ most useful/ most entertaining threads of all time? I think mine is 'Neurergus kaiseri poisoning incident':

http://www.caudata.org/forum/f1173-...urergus/81129-kaiseri-poisoning-incident.html

There's lots in there you won't find anywhere else...

Great idea for a thread! This one gets my vote.:cool:

http://www.caudata.org/forum/f1173-...ops-pyrrhogaster-i-wild-b-special-b-font.html

If I could find it I would also nominate the multi page thread about evolution versus creation. I didn't really take part, but only on caudata.org could a discussion of that nature roll on for page after page without anyone resorting to personal insults or mud slinging. That kind of topic would go south pretty quickly anywhere else I'm sure.

I like the Haiku thread. And I was quite fond of the axolotl monster/beans advert thread that devolved inot an argument on religion.

I think it was "why you should never be mean to an axolotl" or something like that

No way can I pick a favorite, but these three are fantastic.

A thread discussing Taricha toxicity with some great links and a awesome bit showing just how complex the ecosystem really is ( the part about leeches, slugs, snakes, and newts ). http://www.caudata.org/forum/f1173-...a/100160-more-taricha-toxicity-questions.html

Here is another great thread. All you need to know about how to build a aqua terrarium with expanding spray foam is in this thread. http://www.caudata.org/forum/f1173-...enclosures-vivaria-etc/60637-caudate-bar.html

And another thread I just discovered yesterday, discussing the identification of some Tylototriton species. http://www.caudata.org/forum/f1173-...nsis-wenxianensis.html?highlight=Tylototriton

Yes, the thread name was "Why you should be nice to axolotls". It was the nastiest thread I have ever seen on this site, and am honestly ashamed I got involved, especially since my understanding of evolution was very poor at the time.

sde; Yes said:
I didn't think it was nasty, I only mentioned it because I think it speaks volumes about the type of people we are on this forum. I don't care about religion or anything like that, life's too short, but a debate of that nature would have quickly turned into a slanging match almost anywhere else.

Wow, I just read the entire thread. It is a shame that something so small can cause an (almost) 5 page long argument. I bet the OP of the thread was a bit shocked! I'll have a browse through threads to find my favourite.

The best part of the whole thread was when SkollSunChaser posted the video of Will Farrell saying "That escaladed quickly.....". That was pretty darn funny.

Lots of good ones here. I completely missed the 'why you should be nice to axolotls' one, I'm going to have to read it now.

Anyone else got a favourite?

I think mine is 'Neurergus kaiseri poisoning incident':

I really enjoyed reading that thread. ^

While I wouldn't consider this one a favorite, I discovered it today and found it interesting:

GFP Axolotls

This thread is announcing the first GFP axolotls. To think that they are now really common.

For the record, I was looking up threads on GFP after a slightly amusing incident in class today where a professor just didn't know that you can buy transgenic pets (or that GFP was unnatural in fish). I think I shocked him a little when I mentioned that I had owned genetically modified pets.

WHAT!? That third axie lived!? When I saw that thread for the first time, and I saw the first two I was like "oh, they aren't looking so good but should get better". Then I saw the third one and was like "Oh man, that thing will be dead in a few days, no doubt". I stopped following the thread because I figured I already knew the outcome. To look at it now and see it lived, man that is just incredible! That thing was a living skeleton! Great job by the owner to get him healthy again. Also, that is one tough axie.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
