It'll be a while. My females are almost positively with egg, and he comes out of quarantine at the end of the month. He's rather small though, and my females are gigantic. I don't know if I'll have any eggs this year, but if I do, they'll probably be ready sometime the end of next summer (post morph).

I definately love Taricha, one of my favorites. They're very bold. This probably comes from being very toxic! Wild Dendrobates (dart frogs) are the same way.

Yea, that site also has salamander eggs, spoted salamander and such. pretty cool. But both species are illegal for me to keep in Ontario. Native species... And also very bad to the environment. Confused feeling...

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
