There are 2 species of fire-bellied newts,Japanese and Chinese.
They have good caresheets here at caudata.org, here they are for both types os fire bellies.
This is a caresheet for JFBN: http://www.caudata.org/cc/species/Cynops/C_pyrrhogaster.shtml
You probably have cynops orientalis or pyrrhogaster but a lot of other newts besides cynops are called fire-bellied newts - at least paramesotriton (and pachytriton - usually called paddletails in the pet trade though) that I am aware of. I am pretty sure Mark gave you the info you needed, just trying to be informative
Taidgh, I'm guessing from your name that you're in Ireland. I'm in Dublin. If you would like to exchange info, please get in touch with me. I keep several species (you can see my profile by clicking on my name on the left). You can contact me via my profile too or on here. Incidentally, I own Caudata.org.
