Sometimes when axolotls regrow body parts genetic mutations occur, resulting in errors like an extra toe. Some even regrow two arms/legs instead of one. Maybe the growth is due to a genetic mutation? If so, nothing can be done.

Does he/she have other lumps/bumps?

If it is just a lump of skin, you could try to amputate it, but I wouldn't really recommend it unless you have a vet do it, since you might accidentally cut off too much. If it doesn't bother her, like you said, it's probably just become part of her body. Of course, do keep any eye out for any signs of infection, but otherwise it's probably fine.

Just a little axolotl keloid scarring. Scars change the body surface. It's her war wound. I'd leave it be.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
