I believe I have cyclops in my axie tank. I've done research on the internet, and it's the best thing I can come up with. They are VERY little white bugs that hang around on the glass and substrate, and when they move into the water they jerk around. I know some don't mind them in their tank w/ fish because they will eat them, but my axie's wont, and I want them gone! I've been doing water changes about 30 percent everyother day, and I'm seeing no change. I've heard raising the temp.....I could move them temporarily into a smaller tank (but I feel I could transfer the buggers back and forth, too) I'm wondering if anyone else had this problem, and what they did?? I'm sure they enterered my tank via a new plant, I did a bleach solution on it (prior to this have never had issues), but I can tell you now that I have REALLY learned my lesson! PLEASE HELP:(

**update, I did a search here before posting this, and couldn't find much. However, I just went into individual areas, and found more info. Sounds like I just need to keep doing frequent water changes if I want to control numbers. Sounds like some people actually don't mind them...They just aren't for me!

They are completely and utterly harmless. In fact they are part of the microfauna that lives in stablished tanks, and as such they are beneficial because they take part in decomposing organic matter. I can see no reason to want to get rid of them, honestly.
I actually enjoy them since besides their beneficial pressence, they create the ilussion of a more "pond-like" environment which i enjoy.

Yeah! It's nature putting the right stuff where it needs to be!

I love critters, the only things I really don't like are planaria, those things give me the heebies.

I'd imagine water changes and making sure you aren't overfeeding would help you get rid, kidaround :)

I understand, but I hand feed, and I have to admit kinda gives me a bit of the creeps! I also have a few of these blob like things on the glass. Hard for my eyes to really focus in on them. Any ideas?

no worries about them, I have planaria, snails and even amphipods (those are quite nasty!) in a guppy's tank and I put my hand in... you get use to, they don't do any harm :)

I also have them in my axolotl tank. I dont think they have been there long and there isnt a plague of them, its the planaria worms that i have noticed that im not happy about. As you do, I handfeed my axolotls so it isnt a case of overfeeding/vacuuming uneaten food.

I agree with the creating a mini ecosystem in your tank but I dont want to see worms writhing about on the glass. Ive read that certain fish eat them but you cant put fish in with axies! any ideas how to get rid of them please?
