Hi everyone,
As you might of thought I'm new here.
I had posted once before here about a question about some salamanders in my pond at home. But since the law here refuses me to keep them in captivity I bought myself some new ones
. The ones in my pond were the Mesotriton alpestris and allot of them! But I intend to keep them in my pond and let them be. I just hope those damn frogs don't scare them or eat them.
Now a funny story. After a long while I heard there was a guy nearby that bred some newts and salamanders. He had 30 kinds of species. Crazy dude with a sweet setup of aquariums, little ditches and outdoor stuff. The kinds he was willing to sell me were the Triturus marmoratus. He told me I could have his aquarium/vivarium where he kept them in for free if I took them. Now comes the funny part. He said there were 4 T. marmoratus salamanders in there and a 1 Cynops Orientalis that I could get for free. When I got home I checked the thing out and found 5 T. marmoratus and 2 C. Orientalis. So now I have much more then what I asked for in the first place. Which is awesome 'cause I love the little fellas. The aquarium I got them in 'has seen his years' (that's something we say in Belgium), I mean he's a bit old and dirty. Allot of lime on the sides and just plain dirty
. At least I got it for free.
The aquarium there in is 60cm long, 30 wide and 30 high. I think this is going to be a major problem in the near future and thinking about getting meself a nice big tank. Like 120 cm long 30 to 40 wide and 40 to 50 high. But that's something for this weekend or in the near future.
I'll post some images of me new creatures
The foto's taken are in quite a bad state. There taken with my cellphone. I don't have a fancy camera
(Yet)
- This is one of the 5 tiny marms (there still very tiny. I think about 4cm to 6cm)
- now my Orientalis (still very small aswell, like 4 cm both). Atleast I think there Cynops Orientalis. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
As you can see there in good condition.
If i'm mistaken about anything please feel free to correct me! I'm still an amateur and willing to learn more about this.
If you still got any questions please ask! I know I still got allot of questions!
I thank you for reading all of this and I hope I'll have a pleasant stay on this forum.
Cheers & peace
