How often should I feed a paddletail newt ?

i have one a week, the guy in the petshop said he knows someone that only feeds his once a year

however the petshop are not the best for advice, they told me my paddletail was a japanese fire belly

Once or twice a week is fine if the newt is a good eater.

No newt could survive a year without food. A healthy newt may survive for quite a few weeks without food however.

I feed my paddletail newt a little bit every day, but he is skinny and I'm trying to fatten him up. I would say feed a healthy one about every 2-4 days, but it depends on what and how much you feed him.
