One of the easiest ways to tell the difference is to look for nuptial pads on the insides of the males front arms. In the breeding season they will be black, like below but out of season they will be browny in colour. Males tend to be slimmer than females, with a longer tail and a more pronounced cloaca.
oki I have 2 newt whits were sext as a male and female one is slimm and I were told that it whos a he, and he have a longer tail and his tail is not as fat as her tail and almost like a sword if you know what I meane. I will get a photo of them to geter if I can
