I just noticed my axie's gills are different lengths on each side. Was one side damaged? Is this normal? Will it affect her ability to breathe?

It's normal :) One of my axolotl's has the same sort of thing, and I freaked out thinking it could be causing him discomfort or something but I had a lovely person and well respected axolotl breeder reassure me that it's normal and that not all axolotl's gills are the same length on each size :)

She'll be breathing fine, don't worry. It's only when the gills start receding or are genuinely damaged that you need to worry. Your little one looks healthy & happy! What a little beauty :D

Yep, perfectly normal! ?
