Has anyone used Kanamycin for a suspected bacterial infection? I posted earlier about my axolotl suffering from bloat that I believed was caused from ammonia/nitrite poisoning. I tubbed her and dosed her with some methylene blue and she improved initially, but then seemed to get a bit worse. I am planning on moving her to my basement/fridging so she can be kept at a cooler temp and potentially dosing with kanamycin for possible septicemia/bacterial infection. I was wondering if anyone else has tried this or what dosage would be recommended. I called Seachem (who produces Kanaplex) and they recommend roughly 125 mg per 5 gallons, although their product is not entirely Kanamycin and is not officially approved for use in axolotls. I have some kanamycin I would like to try but was unsure if I should use the same dosage. Is it even possible to overdose her on it, or are there any negative side effects?
