i have 4 fire bellie newts but now 2 of them have died. can u name a chemical or something i can put in the water to pureify it????????

Josh, have you read any of the articles people have given you? You should have the basics down by now.

read http://www.caudata.org/cc/articles/waterquality.shtml and http://www.caudata.org/cc/species/Cynops/C_orientalis.shtml.

I also suggest not getting any other newts (like alpines...) until you've mastered the basics.

Your newts were probably suffering from shipping stress, unless they were captive bred. This would have nothing to do with water. But you need to know the basics of water quality to keep any aquatic newt.

There is no magic pill to get good water quality. It takes work (water changes and frequent removal of uneaten food and waste).

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
