Mexican Ambystomatids 3 - dead specimens - velasci, granulosum, ordinarium

Here is the last round of Mexican ambystomatid pictures. The rest of the specimens I looked at belonged to species that have been pictured alive in other parts of the forum.

Here is a large A. velasci larva from San Luis Potosa, Puebla, MX.

Here is an adult velasci from Jalisco, MX

This is an A. granulosum larva:

And finally, here is an A. ordinarium neotene from Puerto Garnica, Michoacan, MX

Please don't take this the wrong way, but why are they all dead?

Because they are pictures of preserved specimens held in museum collections..

Often museum specimens are opened to allow the preservative access to the internal organs to allow rapid penetration to prevent decay.
