Hello,I read an article yesterday regarding the sexing of these newts. It stated that males have a more vivid orange line along the backbone and that the orange coloration was present along the entire limbs. On the female it was usually limited to the tips... Is this true?Looking forward to your comments.Thank you!!!

I would say it were false, where did you read this?
If you look at: http://www.caudata.org/forum/member...-picture13040-neurergus-kaiseri-markings.html you cannot see any real differences between the top female and male's markings. Also a picture of Alan Canns: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/alan.cann/pics/Nkaiseri6.jpg shows no differences as you describe.

Most markings for N.kaiseri seem to have orange along the entire limbs, that would make their a lot of males otherwise, I really dont think it is true.

I too would be dubious about relying on colour to distinguish sexes. When mature, adult kaiseri are quite easy to sex. Males are generally slim and have large, bulbous cloacae, much like any Triturus male. Females on the other hand are generally plumper and have small cloacae which become tubular and prominent during the breeding season.

Hello, I read that on a blog (European one) but having a hard time finding it again, I agree it makes little sense, I just wanted to check here... Thank you for your replies, truly appreciated.
