My Pleurodeles nebulosa spawned this week. The eggs seemed to be bunched more and in some strings. They are not as scattered as the P. waltl eggs. I have high hopes. In a couple days I'll remove the breeders to another tank and raise the larvae in the tank the eggs were laid in. The tank is dirty in the good way that newt tanks should be a little "dirty". When things settle down a little around here I might set up a photo tank and get some good pictures.

They are quite a bit smaller than P. waltl. Mine are more yellow than the waltl and have more contrast between the belly and top.

pics! pics! pics!

I have larval P. nebulosa from two spawnings. I'll be keeping some in the cool basement and some in the warmer living room. Taking pictures is on my to do list.

Congratulations! I've heard they are way more difficult to maintain than P. waltl.

And aren't they P.nebulosus not nebulosa? Pleurodeles is musculine word, i think.

You are correct. It is Pleurodeles nebulosus. They didn't seem real difficult but not much is as easy as P. waltl.

Erm... that makes me think I have 2 Pleurodeles species in my tank! I've got 3 males that are definitely P. waltl, but I've also got a male and a female that were given to me and I was told they are also P. waltl, but they are much paler and a little smaller than the others (the male is orangey - it's always played on my mind that he especially looked different (and yet the same) as the others). I'll get pictures of them when I feed them later (if you could have a look and tell me what you think?), but I would also love to see pictures of your ones too please!

I've started a new thread so as not to clog yours with irrelevant info!
