Hi, I am already the proud owner of 4 beautiful Axolotl, and was looking at some new ones today, toying with the idea of a 2nd tank. Whilst in the shop, I espied a sharp ribbed newt. He was very sweet. Can anyone tell me if they are as easy to look after as Axolotl? Can they be kept with Axolotl, or would he need to be kept separately? Cheers guys!

Sharp-ribbed newts, or spanish ribbed newts, Pleurodeles waltl, have very similar care to axolotls.

It's never recommended to keep species together. These would each need their own tank.

Cool, thanks a lot guys, that's awesomely helpful!

Currently I am toying with the idea of 2 new tanks now, one for lotls and one for newts.....

*Sigh* i think i'm addicted...... :D
