Tank setup help........ pleeaaaassssseeeeee

What size is the container you plan to keep them in initially, how many baby axies, and what size are they? If they are pretty small, bloodworms will be fine, or if they are a bit larger use earthworms.
And also, if you are doing 100% water changes, that will be plenty of oxygen, you won't need an airstone.

umm let me see the one that i could find is about 47cm length and 21.5 cm wide and the height is... (i didnt measure that) there will be two babies which are about 4-5cm is that big enough or should i get a bigger one?... Oh and thanks for the oxygen thing :D

I will put them seperatly i think i have two storage boxes which might be bigger but i cant find them i need to ask my dad where they are, what size would you reccomened at least if i was to house them separatly.... Im not sure when the tank will be set up, not any longer than the end of next week though... But should i let the cycle start before putting them in there or put them in there after i put them in....
Oh i found some of my nephews play sand its from sainburys and is quite dark but i think it might become lighter when i wash it... But is the play sand from argos a very light color...??

Im leaving in a minute to get my axolotls :D:D can i use this in my tank to decholrinate the water and get rid of chloramines....

Hi, i finally have my cute little baby axolotls... i just put them in there temporary home and left them to settle in.... They both have a little hand missing but i think they will grow back nicely they look like there already growing back well... I got a Leucistic one and i think the other one is a wild type one but im not sure, what i am sure about is how great they are... I’m a very proud owner of two beautiful little axies :D:D:D:D:D

Hi i know this is a site forum for amphibians but i was just getting all of the pebbles out of my tank so i could put sand in the tank ready for my axolotls and i found some baby cherry shrimp i had some shrimp in my tank before and they had babies but now im wondering if my water had bad parameters then would these shimp have survived or can they live with bad parameters...

Some Shrimp are hardier than others, both species wise and individually, however they typically do not tolerate bad parameters at all. Especially the fry.
"Specially " bred shrimp are often less hardy due to a lack of genetic diversity. :(

Oh ok well i got them out of the tank anyways but im not going to feed them to my axolotls thats mean they was there first lol... But i have some pictures of my axolotls Silkey and Mudkip, oh and what colour is would you say the brown one is (Mudkip)

I thought so but im not sure about the rings in his eyes... I did notice that the Silkey
wasnt to sure about the food when i put it in there but Mudkip ate some food but i just left them as i thought they was abit shy about eating around me, by the morning the bloodworms were gone but who ate them.... They seem to be getting along well and was together when i got them so i kept them together but now im wondering if i should seperate them so i know both of them are getting enough to eat but im not to sure if i have another suitable container for them...
I havnt had a chance to get a hold of any earthworms from the shop and im not to keen on getting them from my garden as although pesticides havnt been sprayed in my garden i dont know if they have come from a garden that has... Will feeding them earthworms help to put on some weight.. and what else can i do to help Silkey get to a more suitable weight... Thank you :)

Thanks Tom when i fed them tonight they seemed to gulp a bunch up in front of me so it looks promising... Im not sure where to find a bait shop iv never had to use one before but i will work on getting some even if i do have to get them from lee high rd but thanks anyways.... and i will see how they go together for now and if i run into any more problems i will try and seperate them immediatly but hopfully they will be going into the big tank soon..:D

Oh thanks that very helpful :D and u didnt know supreme animal foods sold them well now i know of some more placesi will work on getting then some... Cant wiat until they get a bit bigger so they can start to look like little puppy dogs lol and so i know they are nice and healthy just cant wait to put them in my tank which will hopefully be on tuesday , im putting the sand in today and doing 100% water change with dechlorinated water so will it be ok to put them in tuesday or should i leave the tank a bit longer...? I would have done it sooner but i had been very busy so im finally doing it now....

Thanks, i was planning to start the cycle with them... I put the sand in and i love it, looks great :D... After giving my mum a foot massage for ages last night :errr: lol i think i may have convinced her to get me my test kit today, hopefully she will and not just say she couldnt find one lol.... But if she does can i put them in the tank tonight or should i let the sand settle a bit more.. Last night before i went to bed i coudldnt see through the to the other side of the tank but i could when i woke up... So do you think it would be ok to put them in tonight or wait a little longer....

Yep i washed it first, first out the garden then in the bath then back out the garden then in the bath and then out the garden and then in the bath i never want to do it again lol.... The water is really clear now it dosnt look 100% clear about 95%.. It would be abit to much trouble to change the water but if i have to i quess you gota do what you gota do... I have some PVC pipe and i asked my mum for some fake or hardy plants and stuff so hopfully i will get some more interesting stuff for them to explore and hide in but i won't hold my breath lol...

Ok thats a relief, i have a thermometer and will only put them in if i get the test kit... iv been trying to keep my room cool.. I kept my bedroom door open and the window wide open, took the hood off and have the fan on the water so hopfully this will work to try and keep the temperature down....

Yeah but my water is quite high so they won't be anywhere near it, if they do mind then i will consider something else... Ok i was going to anyways but should i test the water before i put them in just to make sure there isn't any other sources of ammonia...

Oh yeah i got it just double checking and the fan dosnt make any noise or vibration i think it will be ok... But i will moniter it and that... Thanks for all your help and that.. This forum could have potentially saved my axolotls lives and i will let you know how they are getting on and put up some pictures of them in thier new tank
