Shrimp, snails, and small fish (guppies, minnows, platys, danios, etc) are all fine.

I wouldnt consider these tank mates, id consider them a snack! and snails with a trap door are a big no no

Haha, my axolotls don't go out of their way to eat anything.. I had 4 guppies, a platy, and 2 amano shrimp in my 50 gallon with 2 6" axolotls, a month later I hand fed them two guppies and they managed to catch one of them. Shrimp are still going strong, one is like 2.5" he's a monster amano shrimp so I don't think he'll get chomped any time soon. Thinking about getting some bamboo shrimp as they get to 3-4" and don't have claws. I keep cherry shrimp with my smaller axolotl, he doesn't eat them and he totally could if he tried lol.
