Illness/Sickness: the sickness got worsen

the first thing i want to say is : sorry, my english is poor

i've post my sick axie here before and i was told to put the axie in the fridge.(maybe is impaction)

now it's 7days later, and i found some weird thing that i can't understand, i don't know how to describe the symptom.... so i show some pictures to you

and she hasn't eat anything for 1 month....

Hi there,

Thank you for the photographs. Based on the images, i would suspect "Bloat" in your axolotl. If i am not mistaken, a flushed "pinkish' appearance can also result from septicaemia or forms of phlebitis/ vasculitis, however i would let the other experts here verify that.

Bloat is a symptom of many possible diseases including septicaemia such as from Aeromonas spp. or other bacteria types such as Proteus, Pseudomonas, Acinetobacter, Mima, and alcaligenes. Renal damage can also result in bloat.

It is best to bring your axolotl to a vet in your area who is familiar with axolotl medicine. Your vet may like to aspirate some fluid which can be cultured for bacteria and also sensitivity to antibiotics and then give the appropriate antibiotic therapy. Your axolotl can also be placed on fluid therapy if renal disease is suspected. I highly suggest you do not try to treat your axolotl yourself with over the counter antibiotics/chemicals.

Meanwhile, it is a good idea to quarantine/isolate your sick axolotl from any other axolotls you may have. Fridging your axolotl is also a good palliative therapy while you arrange to bring it to your vet. Fridging will 'destress' your axolotl, reduce its metabolic rate and will make the conditions less favourable for harmful bacteria or fungus to thrive. Offer earthworms. Although your axolotl may be inappetant, it would still be good if he has the choice to feed. Also most importantly, continue to monitor the water conditions in the tank/fridge compartment he is placed in. Do daily water changes with a clean dechlorinated and refridgerated water to prevent shock from temperature change. Test that there is no ammonia and nitrite inthe water, and ideally, less than 60 nitrate. pH of the water should be neutral around 7.5.
