Upside-down

thanks, that was very helpful :D i'll keep you updated

Ok, i've just put her in the fridge, the temp is 8 degrees, i put her in a largish container with lid and air holes cut out with a cloth on top to sheild her from the light. I tried to turn her over in shallow water and she stayed upright for a few seconds and then rolled over again so i made the water deeper so hopefully she will turn over on her own. I'm gonna start sorting the tank tomorrow :D

i lowered the water in her container as it seemed to keep her upright, but shes gone upside down again, its pretty shallow so i'm not sure if i should lower it any more... oh yeah, i asked this in another thread, but should i offer food while shes in the fridge because she seems hungry. x

Ok, Shes been in the fridge for 4 days and i've seen no poo or gravel yet......i've been feeding her but i'm not sure if i should as i read somewhere that when they are in low temps it takes a long time for it to pass through and sometimes can start to spoil before it can pass and can make them poorly?

if she wants to eat then thats fine, maybe just offer her a little bit. some of mine will eat whether they need to or not.

this might sound a little odd but looking at her i would have never guessed she was over a year old. apart from the black finger tips she looks very young. but you are right she does have a lovely face :)

how does she eat when she is upside down?

it doesn't really sound odd because i've thought shes quite tiny and hasn't grown much, how big should they be at over a year old? i'd say shes only 12cm from tail tip to nose. I thought it may have been something to do with her diet as for a while it was quite limited, mostly bloodworms and occasional bit of beef heart, but now shes on bloodworms, beef heart and mealworms. She was smaller than the other axie in the tank at the pet shop and the guy said they were the same age but i chose her because i wanted a white one so maybe shes just a runt! I hope theres nothing wrong with her thats making her small and that after changing her diet she might grow a bit.

Oh, and when shes upside she eats the same as when shes the right way up! Like i said in my first post, she doesn't seemed phased by being upside down most of the time.

i guess fraggle was about that when i got her in january. she is about 22cm now and not yet a year old. i would have thought your little one was only about 3 or 4 months old.

i think the lack of growth is a real issue in her problem. she may just be small but i would think it would have some kind of impact on her health.

i would stop with the meal worms as they arnt that good for axolotls. try earth worms. f you havnet got any that you can use then you can order a tub of small ones off the internet.

actually i think she was a little smaller. this is frag the 1st week i got her. the two pics look quite similar.

i dont know. i guess you could try.

Hi you can keep your worms in tud with lid and some soil keep them cool will last a long time, best food you could feed your axie.

If I have managed to find a good suply in the muck heap, I'll put them in a small tub with damp kitchen paper in the fridge..couldn't tell you how long they could last as the axolotl tend to eat more at the moment..4 days is the longest i've kept them so far.

I bought a kilo of worms from my local fishing shop 2 months ago
I keep them in the fridge and they are thriving, (i give them some mash potato every so often)

cool, thanks alot guys! :D i should get my wormies delivered tomorrow.....they aint getting none of my mashed potato though!!!
