Ut 20eggsHelp needed please!

Any idea's?, How much brineshrimp to feed and how many times per day do i need to feed?, Hope someone can help me out

Depends on how many axie babies have hatched. We used to suck up 1/2 turkey baster full of brineshrimp in water, drop them into the coffee filter rinse with dechlorinated water then empty the filter into the tub of 20 axie babies.

If you have less than and you're using the turkey baster you only need to suck up a little bit of brineshrimp.

until you manage to work out how much to feed your babies at each feed time, you'll just have to try from a little bit up to 1/4 of the turkey baster (I'm assuming you'll use one!) - you'll soon get the hang of what's too little or too much. You will also be able to tell where the brineshrimp is once it's in the water - looks like tiny mites in water, if you shine a light at one end they will all gravitate towards it in a group.

It was a hit an miss affair with the brineshrimp when I helped Chris as it was his first batch of eggs, some of the babies would devour things fast leaving the other ones with nothing (they get round orange bellies when they're full)!

You need to feed them twice a day though.
 
Ok, Ill try that when i look at my brine shrimp what are in bags i can see it swimming round its about few mm long and can see it swimming?, Is this correct or are they to big for it?, Please get back thanks, I could try get picture of them if u want.
 
Hi, I took a picture this is best i can see the brineshrimp i would say are about 1cm, Are thease ok for the newly hatched larve?, Or do they need to be smaller iam pritty confused as i cannot get any of brineshrimp only this and its about 1cm long and very thin, Also they get daphina on wed, Is this brine shrimp ok what ive got or is it to big?, Or is it all same?

If they're 1 cm then they will be too big at this stage for your babies to eat. Baby brineshrimp when hatched are really tiny, definitely under a mm and you can only really see them if they cluster together when a light shine aboves them.

Have they started hatching?

See if you can get the baby brineshrimp eggs from petshop and you may be able to hatch some, will also be a good backup if your daphnia is a day or so late.

My sisters axie babies eat 1cm sized mosquito larvae, but they are between 1-2inches in size.
 
I cant get any smaller anywhere and wont have time to hatch them and it sounds hard to hatch them and i dont know how to hatch brineshrimp?, What can i do they are ready for hatching soon id say couple of days maybe less.

they only really eat live food; but aren't you picking up the daphnia Wednesday, you might still have time before they hatch. The brineshrimp eggs can take up to 48 hours to hatch depending on temperature.

You can hatch them sooner if you make sure the water in the brineshrimp hatchery/tank (whatever mode you use) is warmer than 20 degrees Celcius and they will start hatching within 24hrs. Some people use a lamp on facing the hatchery. We did for the first few batches, then Chris found it was easier to put the brineshrimp hatchery in the boiler/hot water cupboard.

And you still have at least a day or two after hatching before they require the live food.
 
Hi - Iam going to try to get some daphina, I got a turkey baster of my brother alot easyier to clean and maintain the water, I would like to hatch some daphina my self but dont know how and would probally do it incorrect then my larve wont have any food to eat, Is all daphina same size because shrimp is different sizes the one i got was too big they were 1cm long, Can you get different size daphina, Because if you can on wed when i get some from shop it might be too big for them, Could you not send some out to me using next day air mail?, Ill pay the cost of postage and of the daphina, I dont mind the price as air mail is quite cheap to be honest, Could you not send me any ill pay what it costs to send and the price of the daphina?

Last question, they have started to move around a little inside the larve, How far of hatching are they?, They move round inside larve every now and again?


Hope you can help me kapo, Ill pay the cost of posting the daphina to me?

Yes but i dont have paypal or ebay or credit card to signup for it, Does any one know a site or anything i can pay postal order with?, Iam willing pay the shipment as its not really exspensive send from different countrys to uk to be honest

Paul, I sure hope you take good care of these eggs and the hatchlings once they hatch... On the 'Recent For Sale' forum you bought 20 Axolotl eggs from another member and posted a message of thanks for receiving these through the post... Now you question whether they are eggs or not??? I also note you asked other members for a postage price for adult Axolotls to be delivered to you!?!? Please read up on breeding, rearing and prepare yourself for all the hard work and dedication ahead at this site and go around your local small pet shops and you'll be sure to find one or more that sell live daphnia for between 50p and £1.
 
Yes i know iam just getting a little help thats all calm down lol, Im just asking how long of hatching?, They starting to move inside larve.
 
I am calm and take the welfare of my own little Axolotls very seriously, no jokes. Most of the help you need is already written throughout this site. Why not start by reading this: http://www.axolotl.org/rearing.htm and seeing if you are truly prepared and know what to do once they hatch. My first Axolotls I have reared are only 3 months old so I'm fairly new to this site too, but I found it important to read beforehand the information and people's replies and comments throughout the "Eggs, Larvae & Breeding" section of this forum. If you're as keen as you seem then time spent reading now is your (and your Axolotls') best way forward. Good luck.

You can join paypal if you go directly to their site but you will be unverified if you don't have a credit card - that's not really a problem as I think you can upload funds from your account direct to paypal if needed.

You're panicking now aren't you. Look you'll be fine. Do as Ian says and read, read read. I couldn't send you any anyway, quarantine restrictions and all between countries, they would dump them at your end in case the water was contaminated. That's standard for most countries, also I'm a day and a halfs plane travel away, much as I'd like to return to UK somehow don't think it'll work! Can you get any live bloodworm, they're sandfly larvae (my husband said they're from midges so would be midge larvae in the UK)?

you can move your eggs to a really cool place in your house, turn off any heating and they may take a little longer to hatch, which should give you time to prepare. I just visited Chris again and his new editions, to replace adults that died recently, also came with eggs. The temperatures really warm and eggs are bean shaped and moving so they'll hatch within a week or so, unless our temperature increases again.
 
Isn´t it bad to give small axolotls live blood worms??

The best food are daphnia and tubifex (alive).
 
Do they come out of there larve when they hatch because mine wiggel around inside the larve every now and again?, Will they come out of there larve once hatched?

And how many more days left of hatching when they start moving around inside larve?

I have made a hatchery for brine shrimp and how do i stick the air line to the bottle at the bottem near bottle top?, And do i just use the line and let bubbles out or get a air stone??, Also what can i use stick it down, Has i dont have any sealent for aqauriums and its quite exspensive and is there nothing else i can use?, Can i not tap it at top so it doesnt move and have the line near bottom of bottle?

Someone could help both questions id be greatfull,

Well, none of my sister's or friends baby axies have died from live baby bloodworm. The baby bloodworm ranges in size from a mm to a cm and half in length. Obviously only the tinier ones were fed to the babies; until they were big enough to eat the larger ones as well. They love them (my sister sent some over in a tub for me to feed hers). And they were in the bottom of the daphnia tubs/buckets they have. Hers refuse point blank to eat the bloodworm cube, they'd rather eat things that wriggle - worms/bloodworm/mosquito larvae/daphnia.

Also, no idea where we'd get live tubifex (is that similar looking to the bloodworm?) Some people here think that bloodworm and tubifex are same, but I don't know.

They do wiggle around prior to hatching. Are you able to upload a picture here rather than do an attachment link so we can see?

Have yours started getting gill nubs (just little bumps where gill should be!) or can you see their gills. Usually once their gills start to show definite shape, like little miniature axolotls minus the feet, then will be could be another few days to a week before they hatch. Depends on the room temperature. If you're keen to hatch them faster warm the room up a bit.

Sister didn't bother attaching the line to the bottle, she just dropped an airstone into the bottle and used the peg to peg the airline against the side of the bottle.
 
Ok, Ill probally just buy one of them little air stones for about 30p, And drop that in the bottle. and then clip the air line to side of bottle with a peg, ( good idea )

And thanks for answering my question, And yes you can see there gills on both side of the newt.

Ill try get a picture up soon, and thanks for helping, ill keep you informed.
