What else to feed my axies?

Pellets really foul the water so make sure you remove any uneaten ones.My axies find River Prawns a tasty meal they gobble them down.Frozen prawns are fine.

I never though of trying frozen prawns!!!! Do they really like them.

Tried mine on trout pellets. They are disgusting the water goes all slimy at the surface.I think that they put in some kind of fish attractant that is oil based. He loved them but what a mess!!!

trout pellets are fine if you are using a filter but they are high in oils, try using carp pellets as they seem to like these, although the strong smell of the trout pellets seem to be very attractive to axes so you could try one trout to three carp as this also works, most fishing shops sell these and you can get quite a big packet(about 2kg) for about £3.

I just had a look on the web link about stuff to feed and i saw Woodlice ("pill bugs") is that a wise thing i have not read that any where else ? Does anyone feed their axies on them ?

Yep, whenever I find a pill bug, I throw it in. Axies seem to like them, despite the crusty shell.

I've never tried woodlice, I always thought they'd float =s

I tend to feed mine earthworms and sometimes bits of prawn, He seems to really like prawns, Sometimes needs a bit of enticing though.

ok, when you guys say prawns - do you mean shrimp.

cos aussie prawns are huge, i dont think mine could stomach that much.

im feeding my axies on frozen blood worm cubes how many should i give them each a week? there 6 inches long

My school has just started again, so I haven't been able to get on recently... Give them between half and a whole cube each every two days. If they don't eat all of them then cut down the amount.

LOL most will eat anything that falls into the tank. So if you have a cat KEEP IT AWAY!

ROFL! I can imagine...

I feed my guys all sorts, mostly frozen food.

As a staple diet, they get frozen bloodworm, and frozen brineshrimp.
I feed them in bowls with "hoods" - the cube goes under the top, melts and sinks - and the 'Lotls eat happily.

They also get jellied BS and BW occasionally - especially if one is under the weather. We nicknamed it "baby food". It's ideal, as it's saturated with lots of extra vitamins and minerals, just right for perking up Axies.

Just occasionally they get chicken and soaked ham - it makes a tasty treat - much healthier and easy to prep than heart.
