This is perhaps a dumb question, but I was wondering when fire salamanders stop growing. I bought mine about a month ago at a reptile show when he was about four inches long. He is now about 7+ inches and is a voracious eater! I never knew how old he was, so I thought this might help me to determine. For those of you that helped me with my questions early on, thank you again very much. The tank is working great now that I got all of the little kinks out (thanks to all of you) and he is doing wonderfully.

I feed him every other day. He gets three to four 1/2 inch crickets or a few wax worms (its been very dry and haven't found any earthworms yet).

Also, should I dust them with vitamin powder? I have been about once every couple of weeks. The crickets are gut loaded.

They grow to about 8-10 inches, but it depends on the species/sub species. Some can acheive 12 inches, but this is rare.

Glad its doing well, but cut down on the wax worms, as they are really fattening, and should really be only used as a treat, otherwise you will end up with a very fat sal!!!! You could see if you could find some woodlice, as a change.

You really want to try and source some worms, although i know its hard in dry conditions.
