Why did you give your axie that name?

Hi!
I've got two leucistic, one called; Poppy cause she is very jumpy and active. and the other one is Deedo, why? I just new that was her name, no clue where i got it from. But she is all freckled and curious of everything, very easy to handle to, i'm especially fond of her.
And i've got adult one named Axl Rosl, i adopted him from a friend when he was fully grown and already named :)

Mine is Lancelot, as it sounds a bit like 'axolotl' and secretly I plan to get him a 'Lady'. She will be, of course, named after the Lady of Shallott. :p
 
I named my first Axi Toothless because he looked like the night fury from how to train your dragon.

My second axi I named Gilbert. Gill-bert.. get it? Cheesy I know, but cute no?
 
My lil fella (assuming hes a boy until he's big enough to be sexed) is named Chernobyl. I had always planned on calling my axi 'General Orlov' - a Bond villiain, but when I got him, he just wasn't a general.
I have an interest in nuclear disasters; and as I walked home from the pet store with him floating around in his little bag of water, I thought about Chernobyl and it just stuck.
I remembered reading an article on Caudata that mentioned axi's are a product of mutation in evolution or something, and added that their poop is toxic, Chernobyl just seemed perfect. He's my little toxic-pooping mutant <3
Of course now I need a friend for him who I can name 'Shima :D

I am getting two (leucistics?) juvies and haven't even thought of names. I believe I need to ask all of YOU....
My adult son's contribution to the name dilemna is "Bob"...but I just don't think that is going to cut it.:D
 
When I started I had about 8 axolotls that hatched, so I named them all Jack. I decided that when I figured out which ones were girls I'd name them Diane (two American kids growing up/ in the heartland). Sadly there was a missed tank cleaning due to a flood, and I lost all but one. I think it's a female, but she is still Jack.

I also have a cat with no name like Breakfast at Tiffany's and a (female) cat called Gary (meow) like Sponge Bob.
 
I have a wild type and a leucistic. Initially, the wild type was called Hook (short for Captain Hook) because its arm was growing in a backwards, hook like fashion. This has since corrected itself and no longer fits. It also never really "stuck"

upon doing research, I learned that the reason axolotls dont go through metamorphosis is due to a failure of the thyroid gland. I too have a thyroid disorder, so the names Iodine (Io) for my wild type and Thyroxine (Roxi) for my leucistic came about. Still unsure of the sexes, but both names can be easily adapted. :)
 
I finally came up with some names I really like.:) Of the two juvies, the leucistic one will be Ancalogon and the albino will be Rassiloth.
I have two more names I will name either the larvae or if the eggs hatch.(I hope!!)
Those are Yagmoth and Nyarlathotep.

Mine aren't very creative and now kinda embarrassing.
Edward and Bella as I was a big Twilight fan a few years back (kinda ashamed but I was young :eek:).
Bill and Tom after the twins from Tokio Hotel.

My newest addition Ness is Edward and Bella's offspring (like a form of Renesmee), also Ness is HUGE compared to his siblings so reminded me of the loch ness monster.
 
That's awesome though! And don't be ashamed i still love twilight and refuse to be ashamed there's a kid in all of us right. So i think your names are cool :)

I named mine darkest wildtype Simon after Simon Petrikov.

My other 2 smaller wildtypes are Pancake and the curly gilled Waffle.

My Albino is named Hercules because he survived crazy shipping methods of UPS which his brother didn't.

Only one of my 5 red efts have names. Yellow dots is his name, since he has yellow spots while his brothers and sisters have red spots. :p

All of my CFB are nameless as well.

My pembroke welsh corgi is named sammich and my Red eared slider is name yertle the turtle after the Red hot chili peppers song based on the book of the same name. :D
 
I couldn't decide on a name for my first one when I got them last Summer. I called it "Small Friend" while trying to come up with a name and it ended up sticking with time.

Since I couldn't even come up with a first name, it was even harder to come up with a second name when I brought home my second axolotl last weekend. It's name is "The Second One".

As you can see, I'm really decisive.
 
I got my first axolotl yesterday, he is a black one.
My daughter came up with the name 'Aristoltle' the Axolotl. :D
 
my axolotl's name is Burrito because she's mexican and kinda looks like a burrito :)
 
Mine is named Mulder; I briefly had a baby bearded dragon that my friend named Scully (she was too young for me to take proper care of in college so I gave her back to the breeder.)

Plus, Axolotls look kiiiiinda like aliens... :ufo:
 
I have tried not to name my little juvies as I'm not keeping them.

But I now have a pair of fat albinos call Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee, one who had his gills on one side munched got named Mr T (coz someone mistook him for tea), a runt called Stumpy, and the first one that hatched called Alpha.

My son asked what would happen if one of the albinos turned out to be a girl, I said we'd have to change her name to Tweedle Debbie.....

Collectively they are called the Poopalotls....
 
I've failed in giving names to only one - Tank. Found him in the parents tank, even after I had done a real good clean up job of getting all the eggs out. He must have hatched a few days before I came back from my vacation, because he was significantly larger than most of his siblings when they hatched. No idea what he ate in the parents tank...
 
Husband named our leucistic Ripley from the movie Aliens and it appears she has become a he so I call him Rip. We have 4 wilds dont have a clue what were going to name them or how I'm going to tell them apart, only one really stands out and he has a gold stripe down each side of his body.
