Only a few weeks left now folks. Time to break out the camera, wipe the dust off and take some photos. Alternatively you can get into your girlfriend's handbag (or boyfriend's manbag) and steal their cute little compact camera and show them how it's supposed to be used.

How do all of you get such hi-res photos of your caudatas? When I take pics of mine you can barely make it out, it just looks like a long black blob. :(
Practice, knowing how to use your camera and a touch of luck.

Regarding an Axolotl Calendar, when judging rolls around we'll take a look through the axolotl photos and see if there is a good enough variety and quality to justify an axolotl calendar. Right now there are many white axolotls and few of other colours - kind of repetitive.

C'mon Axie-lovers, this is your call to arms! Start taking pictures of those Goldens and Wildtypes.

I wonder if I can produce a picture of a larvae that's good enough for the comp....:D

Also.. a tripod and good lighting are helpful...
On the tripod, in my experience the only amphibians that stay still long enough to make a tripod useful are aquatic. I never use a tripod at home or in the field, unless I'm taking video or photographing aquatic animals, and even then I rarely use one.

On lighting, yes good lighting is probably the most significant component of taking a good photo.

I have 2 more pics to submit and I think I'm going to have to pop my golden into the tank to get a good pic of him, as he is in a big plastic container and I really want an axie calender!!! lol.

I think I may have to do some serious photography this week.

I have my co-workers hooked on this thread.

Beautiful stuff folks!
