Why did you give your axie that name?

My lecustic is named Smiley (originally Mr. Smiley, till we found out she's female) because her mouth shape looks like she's smiling all the time. Fury is my melanoid and we named him for Nick Fury from the avengers. Also he's a scaredy-lotl lol. Then my Golden is called Glorlim (pronounced Glor-eh-leem) which is Tolkein's sindarin elvish for "Gold Fish"

At first I was going to call mine Bowser (wildtype) and Peach (Leucistic) cause i'm such a Nintendo nerd ... :D
But I found that the names just weren't sticking and didn't really suit them ... I kept calling the leucistic pinky so I decided on that name ... then the wildtype remained nameless for a while ... until my partner said how about Faygo? I loved it, so I give him that name ^_^

I joined the 'How To Train Your Dragon' club after a fortnight of calling them Little Girl and Big Sister, so my wild-type is another Toothless, and to continue the theme my little gold girl is called Astrid.

After an alcohol influenced night with some friends, I thought it'd be a good idea to name him after a pokemon, but not the typical "Mudkip", instead we were so smart we'd name him after a fire type, thuswe named him Charmander, or Anders :p

We decided to go with Norse mythology for ours, starting with Jörmungandr the world serpent (our wild type), and Fenris for our white albino. We thought Fenris fit because he was a little snappy when he was a juvenile.

We'll be getting two more babies next week and have the ideas Gullinbursti for the golden albino since it means golden bristles. (He was a boar in the myths, but I like the meaning) and Marmenill for the melanoid after the mermen.

We're a family of nerds, but my husband has loved Norse mythology since he was a kid and discovered he had a lot of Scandinavian heritage. Of course they'll probably have other nicknames like we call Fen "The Creeper" because of his tendency to stare at us out of his cave.

My golden albino's name is Auri, which is derived from auriferous (which means containing gold)

my first is called tony because i love the comedian Tim Minchin and he does a joke about tony being the first fish to have feet really funny. i just think my axolotl would be tony :)

I named mine 'Bluebell' after the glowing rabbit in the BBC Sherlock since mine also has the GFP gene (although in the show the rabbit magically glowed in the dark not under a black light...sigh, tv and science don't really mix).

Mine are my wild type Taniwha (pronounced 'Tanifa'), named after the Māori legendary creatures, and a baby leucistic called Calcifer, because my housemate thought he looked like the fire demon in Howl's Moving Castle, and the name stuck.

Great names! I have:

Pepito: He's a GFP wildtype. Wanted a name reflecting his species' country of origin.

Artemis Popcorn: A new juvie albino. Artemis for the goddess of wilderness and the hunt, and popcorn because she's white and spunky. And, because you can't be too serious with axolotls!

Xotl, sounds cute.
Spotl, she has spots all over
Frangipane 2, daughter of Frangipane, I saw the word somewhere, thought it was cute.
Goldilocks, because she's a golden axie.

Maybe the next one will be named Gillmore, Gillroy, something Gill related.

Dweeby, because when I got him, he had a very dweeb-ish "smile" :D

Derpy, coz she has a cute derp-face :p

Dopey, coz he's very tame, yet not the most intelligent in the bunch :p

Dilly, "one that is remarkable or outstanding", no matter what the odds, he was awful when I bought him... he pulled through. He loves to beg for food, and tho his legs seem to be healing very slowly, he has no trouble getting around :)

Also, cute little side note... No matter where Dweeby goes, Dilly follows. Ever since he was introduced in the main tank, he seems to have been rather scared... and from the start, he just stuck close to Dweeby. Even to this day. I think it's adorable <3

I haven't decided completely but i was thinking:
Dorado for my baby golden as in the road to El Dorado.
Cambrian for my baby leucistic as in the geological period.
Boann for my baby wild because it is the name of the goddess of a river in Ireland that shares my last name

snowflake: he/she was the smallest and the white one
capunchino: he/she is the black one
sunny: he/she is the golden

and the reason of all the names is that everyone would know how to say it

This thread looks fun. I'll play along.

My axies names are:

Rasta - leucistic
Raver - gfp leucistic
Gwalker the Mexican Walker (inside joke) - gfp leucistic
Tizzy Marlee (another inside joke)- gfp albino
Sanchez - gfp wild type
Pepita (nugget in spanish) - golden albino
Melly Mel - melanoid
Benzo - german copper
Beemer - german copper

My clever little melanoid is Leviathan, cause a big scary sea-monster name for an adorable, harmless little lotl just WORKS. :3 He's Levi for short, but I tend to call him Squiggle when I'm chatting to him. >>

I'll be continuing the 'legendary sea monster' trend as I get more axolotls, for I CERTAINLY will get more... the next one will be Tiamat (hopefully female) and we'll see if I have room for any more to name Umibozu, Quetzalcoatl, Jormundgandr, Makara, Scylla, Kraken, Hydra.... the list goes on. XD

My husband named our leucistic Alabaster, because he's pale and I've wanted a golden to name Merlin. x3 Because only magic can produce such odd and amazing animals.

I am not nearly as imaginitive as you guys!
I have Pinky - he's pink (albino)
Freckles - yup, he's got freckles (leucistic)
Pepper - she's a brown and speckled (wild type)
Red - but she's not red! She's black (wildtype?) but I named her after the character in the Sawshank Redemption. In the book, Red is a big irish guy with a shock of ginger hair (hence the name) but in the film they cast Morgan Freeman in the role (it still works) but they kept the name and the lines:
Andy - "Why do they call you Red?"
Red - "I don't know"
Which in the book is very funny, as Red runs his hands through his hair, and in the film it's only funny if you've read the book.

My first axolotl was called Wooper named after the axolotl pokemon. My current 2 axys are called Sir lance alotl, he's a yellow leucistic. And toothless is my other one cos she looks like the dragon from how to train your dragon :)
